More Joy: A Mumoir

“Some of the strongest character work I’ve ever seen. This needs to be adapted into a TV series.”

The mother of all rebirths.

A Mumoir is a funny, filthy and unexpectedly tender solo show about early motherhood, identity crisis and the dreams that refuse to stay buried.

Developed through a sell-out run at Hollywood Fringe 2025, and multiple Los Angeles previews, the show received a StageCrafts Select Award nomination.

Set against the loopy backdrop of Los Angeles, A Mumoir follows Suz, a British first-time mum in the aftermath of birth, grappling with a vicious inner critic who delights in her epic fails.

When her toddler accidentally eats mushroom chocolate, chaos ensues. From pinworm body horror and puddle-jumping after the rain to accidentally landing in a DJ workshop, A Mumoir unfolds through a series of escalating real-life stories, blending character comedy and solo theatre with an absurdist twist.

Beneath the chaos runs a deeper thread about creativity, ambition and the dreams we defer while trying to survive.

The show was developed through multiple previews in Los Angeles before a sell-out run at Hollywood Fringe 2025, where it received a StageCrafts Select Award nomination. It is currently being further refined and developed in the UK into a 60-minute version through continued live performance.

The show contains adult themes and humour relating to early motherhood and is suitable for audiences aged 16+.
